1.1 These requirements apply to power-operated dispensing devices for petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel for use as motor fuel.
1.2 The electrical features of power-operated dispensers are as described in UL 1238.
1.3 These requirements apply to wiring methods used to install or interconnect such control equipment when the equipment is located directly on or within the housing of the dispensing device. These requirements do not apply to control equipment that may authorize, monitor, or interrupt operation of a power-operated dispensing device. Such equipment includes panel mounted equipment located adjacent to the dispensing device, remote consoles located inside a permanent structure, and auxiliary equipment physically attached to the dispensing device or enclosed by the pedestal and housing.
1.4 Products covered by this Standard are intended to be installed and used in accordance with the applicable Codes and Regulations as determined by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), such as, but not limited to:
a) In the United States:
1) NFPA 30;
2) NFPA 30A;
3) International Fire Code IFC Chapter 23;
4) National Electrical Code, NFPA 70;
b) In Canada:
1) The National Fire Code of Canada;
2) Canadian Electrical Code, Part I CSA-C22.1;
3) Provincial or other Regulations.
1.5 For additional requirements for Power-Operated Dispensing Devices for Gasoline/Ethanol Blends with nominal ethanol concentrations above 10 %, refer to UL/ULC 87A, for additional requirements.
1.6 For additional requirements for Power-Operated Dispensing Devices for biodiesel fuel, diesel/biodiesel blends with nominal biodiesel concentrations up to 20 % (B20), refer to UL/ULC 87B for additional requirements.
